It was close to the hospital, where I was schedule the procedure , so it was very convenient .. Very good location, the museum mile is just few minutes walk, not touristic , very nice restaurants nearby , good shopping area. The rooms are very small, The hotel is overpriced.

Exceptional. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, particularly one man with Indian origins. No.

Acceptable. Location, Staff was good. Room & hotel furnishings old and tired. AC old and noisy.

A perfectly nice stay within easy walking distance to the Met and Central Park.. The bed was very comfortable. Room felt a bit worse for wear and a bit shabby. It’s an old hotel though and so it had its charm. This was no fault of the hotel but the surrounding construction going on was loud and dampened the experience and made it difficult to sleep past 7am.

Buyer beware...unwelcoming, unfriendly, inhospitable. Not worth the cost or the trouble.. Nothing to like here...seriously this place is a dump that seems to be on the verge of closing at any moment. I travel...A LOT. With the exception of a hotel room in rural Korea in 1990, this is the worst I've ever seen. The room was so ridiculously tiny, the bathroom door could not open fully, being blocked by the (already tight) in room sink and radiator cover. Poorly made bed with ill fitting sheets (I understood hotel mattresses required covers)? Filthy, stained headboard (see photos). Room was over-heated and LOUD window ac couldn't cool it off. Asked the front desk for another room & was FIRST asked how I booked...through third party, or directly. Perhaps because he is unaware he works in "hospitality", the smug night manager made an unpleasant situation even worse. Being told there were no other rooms and discovering I would be charged full amount if canceled, I tried to make it work. Front desk employee came up and shut off heat & ac unit. Non stop jack hammering began 7:15am at huge construction site next door. When checking out I found an additional $12. service charge that the front desk couldn't explain with any clarity. Essentially, you pay for a crap "Continental" breakfast that is supposed to be included in the room price. Horrible place.

Great staff, great room, awsome location at a great price!. The Franklin Hotel is a typical, older, former tenement building that has been converted into a boutique hotel. It is a charming property that retains much of its original architectural elements with modern updated facilities. If you are looking for the "latest and greatest" in accommodations than the Franklin Hotel is not for you, but if you enjoy unique and fun than we highly recommend the Franklin Hotel. Nothing not to like! Perfect accommodations for a romantic and leisurely weekend in the city. We felt badly for the property as there is construction next store with protective scaffolding extending over the front entry which is one of the great features of the of the property but is currently lost. Hopefully that ends soon. I would suggest to the Franklin Hotel that instead of the name of the scaffolding company being above your front door that you ask them to put your name on all three sides! We think that's only fair!

Nice people, ok room. we needed a cot for our room and there were no blankets available. Breakfast is pretty weak maintenance.

Acceptable. It's location is great. Close to the MET and central park as well as metro. I booked 2 rooms for 2 nights. In 1 room, there was a crack on the window on a cold night. Staff refused to change the room,Instead brought an old noisy fan not letting us sleep. Heater in 2nd room blew cold air from 12 to 7am. would not stay there again

Very good. Small Queen Room #46 was cozy, had an incredibly comfortable bed, an updated bathroom, nice toiletries, lovely front desk and housekeeping staff, 24/7 coffee/tea in the lobby, continental breakfast, and complimentary wine and cheese in the evening. Wifi did not work in the room, but I had read reviews that mentioned to poor signal and was prepared for that. The wifi did work in the lobby/sitting area. The only other minor issue was that the pillows were pancake thin. I requested an extra one.

Looking forward to my next visit.. Very good staff. Wonderful accommodations. Coffee was provided in too small a pot, and so they ran out and then you had to wait until another pot brewed. They should have had another pot already brewed so that when it ran out it could be quickly refilled.

Acceptable. The bathroom door, if closed, would become very difficult to open it. I was told by the staff, to keep it open!

NYC. Bedroom size, clean linen, comfortable bed. Convenient to the subway -lines 4, 5, 6. The Breakfast room had tiny tables and a very limited breakfast. The Wifi was very sporadic - when advised that this was so, staff members express surprise & give a different story each day e.g the engineer is coming today, try this corridor - it should work. On the Thursday of my stay there was no happy hour or breakfast as hotel was waiting for permit to serve food to be renewed by the NYC authorities. Staff members on duty kept saying it was not their fault. Overall they were not capable of handling complaints & tend to blame the guests! I had to request a reduction in my account (for wifi outage & breakfast issue) - good hotel managers know when to offer adjustment. The hotel is described in some Guide books as a boutique hotel - for some people that seems to be the case. In my view it is fiction!

Passable. clean room, nicely decorated . staff was friendly and helpful. Gave good suggestion for restaurant and assisted with taxi when we were leaving. very small room hard to find space to place two suitcases without climbing over them, tiny elevator, i felt claustrophobic. I am not used to paying this price for the room I was given. Even smaller than rooms in Europe.

Michael 22 / 10 / 2016

Above average. Great location for that area. I had room 51 with a view of the St. Small but cute bathroom and very clean. Big bed nice white sheets. Elivator was retro and fun. Hotel has a work site next door that detracts from the hotel. The public areas needs a tidy up. Staff pleasant but not professional. Front desk was messy. Entrance needed a sweep. Perhaps a nice vase of flowers might help.Breakfast is basic in small room.

Gary 12 / 10 / 2017

Passable. View out the window was of garbage in the back ally.

Annie 11 / 10 / 2017

Barely OK. Easy for you to improve!. Liked the location, the friendly staff, the extra big bed. The noise and dirt from the construction next. We were supposed to be on the 8th floor, but ended up on the fourth, noisier at 7AM.... The breakfast room is too small. Not enough space in the room for two suitcases!

Marie 30 / 09 / 2017

Will not be back.. Window unit air conditioner that made loud noise. Could not fall asleep for two hrs til my husband rigged something to stop noise. No air in lobby, breakfast room or just very warm in there. Our room was clean but the rug was horrible. The staff was very nice no problem there. Look above We liked the staff.

Nice 28 / 09 / 2017

Great find for the money. Convenient location. Friendly staff. The rooms are small, but clean.. Friendly and accommodating staff. Great location Construction next door started at 6 a.m.

Sam 28 / 09 / 2017

Never to be repeated. Tiny rooms, and building noise from 6.00am

Aisha 24 / 09 / 2017

Passable. Location was good and central. Staff not helpful, no towels left in room Had to ask 5 times for them, rooms very small, facilities dated and hotel needs to be modernised a little bit

Peg 19 / 09 / 2017

Terrible. Run down hotel and very expensive for what was given. the furniture in the lobby and sitting room was worn out and dirty. The rooms were small although the bed was comfortable .The carpeting was filthy and old. the entrance was terrible.I would not recommend this hotel. the breakfast was mediocre and the dining area was too small to accommodate the guests. we had to go to the sitting room to eat. The staff were pleasant but the hotel is a "dump".They claim it was under construction but no signs of interior improvement.

Anonymous 17 / 09 / 2017

Dont stay here...i wish i had paid attention to other trip advisors saying not to too!. Staff tried to be helpful Small rooms, bathroom sink in bedroom, no storage space, 'wardrobe' could fit 4 items. Money taken fron card without permission on 2 occassions, still waiting explanation and refund for the later time. Building site next door, hotel covered in scaffolding and buiding work began at 7 am every morning, the noise was ridiculous but was still nearly drowned out by the noise of the air conditioning unit. Definitely would not recommend this hotel. Not good value for money at all. Breakfast and 'wine' reception were laughable.

We never go back at the Franklin Hotel. Nothing, only easy location for what we need everything. The room was incredibly small. I booked high floor bc I'd like see the view and I can see the walls of three building. The bathroom was so small that if we were a little overweight we couldn't use. The sink didn't drain and small less then a shoe box and with hair on the floor, dirty. The carpet was disgusting. They said there was breakfast in the morning. The room was another shoe box, only with apple, bread, pastry, yogurt plain and with fruit, milk and cereals. There were coffee machine, so we have to make our coffee and the small room was full of people waiting. Only tree little table, busy. we find a little table on the lobby. I have checked on line before decided to book that hotel and the description was absolutely fake. We spent a lot of money around 252$ for one night. Never, never again in that hotel!
